ABOUT THE RETREAT

Reconnect with yournatural operating system.

In this experience, you’ll reconnect to your natural operating system—a state of clarity, responsiveness, and grounded energy—and learn to lead in alignment with both your behavioral patterns and the core BE principles that guide nature: presence, relaxation, and interconnectivity.

“If thinking through the decision to attend a Behavioral Essentials retreat—don’t think, just do! This experience was personal, supportive, and the setting was one of individuals growing with each other. I walked away with a new understanding of myself and I feel confident that this understanding will continue to impact others."
Kassey Kampman
eVP of People, SSA Group
"This retreat experience was atypical of any retreat I’ve participated in before. Their learning outcomes were tangible and experiential, and rooted in overall wellbeing. Being in the Jemez Mountains, seeing the insanely beautiful earth and feeling it flow through my being with such force and power recharged me in a way that I couldn’t have imagined. What a powerful experience!”

Real. raw. RUSTIC.

Not your typical executive retreat.

Forget the fancy fluff of a luxury resort. This is real, raw and rustic.

Set in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico, this experience takes place in a landscape known for its natural beauty and deep cultural history. Surrounded by mesas, mountains, and expansive desert vistas, the setting invites a slower pace, clearer thinking, and a more grounded way of being.

You’ll stay in a historic mountain inn and hang with the locals at a saloon that has been part of the community since the early 1900s. You’ll also experience traditional New Mexican cuisine, prepared with care by our family, and feel the warmth and connection that runs deep in the region.

Shared or private Rooms available. Discounted retreat rate offered for shared accommodations.

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Nature is the teacher. Our CEO is your guide.

Rick Breden is an executive coach, strategic advisor, and clinical psychologist with decades of experience guiding CEOs and leadership teams through transformational growth. He has helped scale complex organizations, including leading a university’s online expansion from $300M to $3B and advising SSA Group’s growth from $100M to $500M.

His work sits at the intersection of human behavior, systems psychology, and the natural principles that drive leadership and performance. Drawing on a background in clinical psychology and a long-standing practice of mindfulness, meditation, and T’ai Chi, Rick helps leaders strengthen presence, regulate energy, and operate more effectively under pressure.

Influenced by the teachings of ecologist and Way of Nature founder John P. Milton, Rick incorporates nature-based immersion into his work, creating experiences that move beyond theory into deep awareness and lasting behavioral change.
