After many years in a Corporate Career, where I rose to overseeing Pension Investments, I ‘saw the light’ and realized I liked helping people grow – – more than working with spreadsheets. As a result, I left investments, put myself on a sabbatical, and started studying psychology again (my favorite subject in college). My life journey helps me in my practice (now 20+ years), as I’ve been through many of the issues my clients face in work, their relationships, and with their families.
My work is based on my studies and what I’ve found has helped me in my life. I help clients get ‘un-stuck’ to make lasting changes with a unique 3-step transformational process: Release, ReThink, and ReDo. This process has 2 important principles. The first is understanding that suffering and needing to make changes is not a sign that something is ‘wrong’, but its actually a sign that something is right! It’s a call from inside ourselves to grow at a deeper level, so we can be more fulfilled. And second, difficulties are an ‘inside job’; they are caused by a script, or programming, that can be re-written. To change our script, it takes a transformation where the truth is seen about distorted thinking and old stuck emotional blocks are released. Then wiser choices are made and life becomes more fulfilling and joyful.
I’ve been married 40 years to an amazing person, Karen, and we are very proud of our adult son, our daughter-in-law, and the grandson they brought into the world. Outside of work, I’m spending time with my family or the people in my meditation group. I also enjoy reading, movies, and walking. There’s probably another dog in my future, hopefully soon!
My formal education began with a BA from Duke University in psychology and economics; and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College. When I left my Corporate career, I earned an Advanced Certificate as a Core Energetics Practitioner (Body-Centered Transformational Psychology) from the NYC Institute of Core Energetics where I studied with psychiatrist Dr John Pierrakos, founder of Core Energetics and the Co-founder of Bioenergetics. Core Energetics is a synthesis of Bioenergetics and non-denominational Spirituality. I also have studied advanced Body-Centered & Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Hartford Family Institute for many years. Additionally, I have an earlier Advanced Certification in EFT (the Emotional Freedom Technique). Other studies include Energy Balancing/Reiki and meditation.
